PPSSPP is a PSP emulator for macOS that offers you the possibility to quickly install and play games developed for the Sony Playstation Portable. PPSSPP allows you to install games from local archives, but can also download games from the Homebrew store.
To be able to run the PPSSPP application, you must make sure that your have the SDL framework already installed on your Mac. The easiest way to install SDL is to go through the Homebrew package installer.
First of all, you must install Homebrew on your Mac by running the following command in the Terminal application:ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)'
For the command to work, you must have the Command line tools for Xcode already deployed. If they are missing, you will be prompted to confirm the installation, and the macOS installer will automatically deal both with the download and the deployment.
The final step is to run the “brew install sdl2” command in the Terminal. After the installation completes, you will have everything set to run the PPSSPP application.
Via the PPSSPP user interface, you can either browse your drive and install PSP games from locally stored archives, or go to the Homebrew Store and get PSP games from there.
